Last week the football media woke up to another surprising piece of news for European football. The coach of European champions Bayern Munich, Hansi Flick, announced that he would not continue at the Bavarian club for the next season. Bayern is a big betting favorite on Bundesliga odds, leading the German league table this season.
The news did not go down well with Bayern Munich. In an official statement, the club disapproved that the coach had made public his decision to leave the club without first consulting the management. According to Flick, however, he had already made his decision known to the board. Even so, the club’s board did not miss the opportunity to express its annoyance at the decision.
German National Team
All this comes after Joachim Löw’s departure from the German national team, opening a long debate about who would be in charge of the national team. It is not a secret that Flick is the favorite to succeed him, given his time in the national team as assistant coach.
On Tuesday, the German Football Association (DFB) announced its intentions to start talks with Hansi Flick to replace Joachim Löw as national coach, following his announcement to leave Bayern Munich,
It is well known that the DFB holds Hansi Flick in high esteem. The reason is that he is an old friend of the national team. For twelve years (2006-2014) Flick was Löw’s assistant, with whom he won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
So Bayern Munich has had no choice but to accept that Hansi Flick will leave the club this summer. According to Sky Sport, the board has already agreed on terms with the coach on the termination of his current contract, due to expire in June 2023.

The chapter ends with Bayern’s announcement that Julian Nagelsmann will take over as coach after the departure of Hansi Flick. According to the German sports press, the transfer could be worth up to 25 million euros (30.2 million dollars), according to the German sports press.
Nagelsmann, currently the boss of RB Leipzig, is the Bundesliga’s youngest and most promising coach. He is 33 years old and of Bavarian origin. He made it to the top flight with Hoffenheim, subsequently joining Leipzig in 2019, whom he has led to European competitions twice.
The young coach will leave his current club to take up his duties at Bayern from 1 July. His contract with the reigning European and German champions will be for five years, until 30 June 2026.
Bayern leads the table with 71 points, followed by RB Leipzig with 64 points. The first and second in the German Bundesliga swap coaches with just three games left in the season. Will RB Leipzig overtake Bayern?
