Can Chelsea Win the Premier League 20-21?

Reading Time: 4 minutes read

The Premier League 2020-2021 season is nearly  here and Chelsea is extremely active and busy preparing their new squad during the current transfer market. The Blues still have 2 weeks to shape a top-level team.

The Club

The Chelsea Football Club is based in Fulham, London and has been owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich since 2003. The Club is among England’s most successful clubs and they have won over thirty competitive honours, including six league titles and six European trophies. Based on attendance figures, the club has the sixth-largest fanbase in England.

In terms of club value, Chelsea is the eighth most valuable football club in the world, worth €949 million, and is the ninth highest-earning football club in the world, with earnings of over €513 million in the 2019–20 season.

The club has rivalries with neighbouring teams and its historic rivals are Fulham F.C., who they play against in the West London derby, and with Arsenal, facing each other in the Great London Derby. Other longstanding rivals are Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers.

A Renewed Squad

Chelsea got a new coach last season 2019-2020, legend Frank Lampard, considered one of the greatest Chelsea players of all-time as well as one of the greatest midfielders of his generation.

The team enjoyed an impressive 2019-20 season under Lampard, who wants to make history on the Chelsea bench, since he is making the club to be one of the major protagonists of the transfer market, acquiring new players.

The first acquisitions have been Hakim Ziyech, from Ajax Amsterdam who signed a five years contract for £33 million and the Leipzig striker Timo Werner, with another 5 year contract worth £47.5 million.

MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR PREMIER LEAGUE PREDICTIONS

Few days ago, the club also made public the transfer of the young French defender Malang Sarr and later on Leicester’s full-back Ben Chilwell was signed for over £50 million.

And it seems that Chelsea’s plans do not stop there since they can still add up to two more signings and Bayer Leverkusen young German talent Kai Havertz is almost about to join the Club with a five years contract worth £100 million, the most expensive deal of the club until now.

Another name to reinforce the defence is veteran Thiago Silva, who left PSG after the defeat by Bayern Munich in the Champions League Final. In this case it will be a free transfer for one year  with the option to extend the contract for a further 12 months.

Ready to Win

With Frank Lampard, Chelsea have strengthened their attack and their defense, re-structuring the team with a total transfer cost of £230 million.

The club were unable to sign last season because of a FIFA sanction and reserved resources in January, but now Lampard have managed well the signs and prepared the club with this renewed squad.

Frank Lamber’s project is a very ambitious one and the Blues are already looking forward to an exciting campaign ahead.

We are going to see a new image of Chelsea, the new team is ready to fight for domestic and European trophies and will not let any rival interfere in their path to glory.
