A star of elite football since 2003, record man Cristiano Ronaldo keeps making headlines in recent days after confirming his return to Old Trafford for a second spell with Manchester United. The Portuguese now stole the limelight on FIFA day by adding a new record to his extensive list of honors.

As if the records of top scorer in Champions League, Euro Cup, Club World Cup, Real Madrid were not enough for him, the Madeira native also became the top scorer at the international level. That was when Portugal faced Ireland in the European qualifier for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar by reaching 111 international goals after a hat-trick.

🏆 He beat Iran’s Ali Daei

With his first goal against Ireland, Cristiano beat the legendary Ali Daei, who scored 109 goals for Iran and held the record for 15 years since his retirement in 2006.

Ronaldo equaled Daei’s mark on 23 June when he scored against France in a European Championship group stage match.

Two months after that equalling goal, the Portuguese is now top of the list of top international goalscorers and it seems highly unlikely that any player will ever be able to take his place away from him.

It is worth remembering that Ali Daei claims to have 111 goals for Iran, but FIFA does not count two goals scored for his country’s Olympic team.

Precisely for this reason, Cristiano Ronaldo is considered the top international goalscorer in history as of last Wednesday, Sept. 1.

👕 “Ronaldo 7” shirts sales record

Cristiano Ronaldo has just broken another record in the Premier League 2021/22 season. This time for the fastest-selling shirt in Premier League history. Before even kicking a ball for Manchester United, the sales of the shirts with number 7 have soared so fast that Adidas is struggling to keep up with the demand, and will not be able to ship before 1st October.

As for his debut, it will be on 11 September in the Manchester United-Newcastle clash.

Now in his new second spell at Manchester United, the Portuguese will try to continue breaking records and be able to retire in a grand style.
