Max Verstappen won again yesterday in the GP Styrian over Hamilton, that arrived in second place. Verstappen records his second victory in a row with this dominant victory, and the fourth for Red Bull, placing him and his team in a very powerful position for the F1 title race, which is in Mercedes control so far.

Verstappen was coming off the back of a thrilling victory last weekend at the French Grand Prix, so it was much easier for him to win again.

This F1 season has been packed with thrilling races, made up of high-speed overtaking.

Dominant Performance

Red Bull´s driver had a dominant performance from the beginning to the end of the race. The 23-year-old Dutchman, started from pole position, after setting the fastest lap in two of the three qualifying sessions.

From the first lap he was in control, managing to maintain his lead into the first corner, over the 71 laps on the Red Bull Ring. After two laps, he was already 1.4 seconds ahead of second-placed Hamilton. He finished more than 35 seconds ahead of reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton.

This was the Red Bull´s fourth consecutive victory and Verstappen extended his lead to 18 points ahead of Hamilton.

With this victory, Verstappen has already 14 wins of his blooming F1 career, which places him in pole position for his first F1 championship title.

Mercedes has to Improve

Hamilton could only settle for second place. He finished more than 11 seconds behind his Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas, who finished third. He could only claim one point for setting the fastest lap of the race.

The English driver admitted that Mercedes is struggling to keep up with Red Bull. After finishing the race, he declared to the media: “I was trying to keep up but the speed they have, they’ve obviously made some big improvements over the last couple of races,”. “It’s impossible to keep up.”

Hamilton is a seven-time F1 champion and is seeking his eighth title, allowing him to break the record set by Michael Schumacher’s great Ferrari.

Next GP Austria

Since the beginning of the Championship, Mercedes has had no victories, and the current dominant team with Hamilton ahead could lose its command in the next weekend´s Austrian GP.

As per Hamilton’s words: “We need an upgrade of some sort. We need to find some performance from somewhere.”

We will see if this will come true in the next F1 GP Austria on the 4th of July, where Red Bull will keep trying to dominate the race race over Mercedes.
