The ball will roll again this weekend in the Italian First Division Serie A and the Italians will join the rest of the European leagues together. Now the world of European football is on the run again.
As well as the rest of the European big leagues, the matches will be played without public and later on the league organizations will decide if they will add public, depending on the evolution of the pandemic stats.
Like the former seasons, a total of 20 teams will participate in Serie A 2020/21, 17 from the previous season and three coming from Serie B and will be playing during 38 match days till 23rd May 2021 when the competition will conclude.
The current champions, Juventus won the former season for the ninth time consecutively since 2011 and are once again the hot favorites to win the next competition, while the rest of the teams will try to prevent the Turinese from getting their tenth consecutive Scudetto.
Juventus have been the most dominant team in Italy competition in the last century and have not stopped winning titles. They have 36 League trophies in its history, but in spite of their reign in the Calcio the reality is that they did not have luck in the Champions League where it has not added a title for 24 years. The Italian team is the one that has lost the most Champions League finals, winning the trophy only two times of the nine they played, in 1985 and 1996.
But now since 2011 the team is unstoppable in the Serie A, and they will play against Sampdoria their first match of the season, next Sunday 20/09/20. Most predictions show that Juventus will be the most likely team to bet on, to lift the trophy this season.
The following rival teams will keep on competing hard to win for the trophy to change hands this season, thus ending Juventus’ monopoly of nine consecutive years as winners.
The club ended in second place last season by only one point fewer than Juventus, and they are the eternal rivals to win the competition.
It is a powerful team that has 18 League titles in his history and has been luckier than Juventus concerning UEFA Champions League competition, that have won in three occasions; two back-to-back in 1964 and 1965 and the last one in 2010.
Even though they do not share the same city nor are part of the same region, Inter Milan is the eternal rival of Juventus and they face each other in what is called Derby d’Italia (Derby of Italy). The team is the closest rival Juventus has and is one of the threats the Turinese will have to face in the competition to defend their title.
The team, which had significantly outscored Juventus and had a far greater goal differential in the former season, is another favourite rival to win the competition 2020-21 as they ended in the 3rd position.
The Goddess will be fighting again to win what would be their first Serie A trophy. The team has participated in four seasons of the UEFA Europa League, reaching the quarter-finals in the 1990–91, and they also competed in the Champions League for the first time in their history when they qualified for the 2019–20 edition. The team will repeat again next year 2020-21.

Is one of the clubs with the longest tradition of Italian calcio, and although its trophy cases are not as full as those of Juventus, Inter or AC Milan, they can presume that they had one of the best players ever in their squad, Diego Armando Maradona.
Napoli won the Scudetto only once, in 1987 but in the last years the team is a close competitor to win the title, since they are always at the top of the table.
Even though the former season ended in sixth position, their typical place during the last 5 years, they are a strong competitor and contendant to win this year.
AC Milan were one of the greats in the Italian league and in Europe and although the club has been facing a crisis since 2010 and is still recovering from it, lately they are always in the top of the list. The red and blacks have a list of 18 Italian league titles and won the Champion league seven times, being the second team with most wins of this trophy, after Real Madrid.
Lazio and Roma
Both are also teams to be considered to win the title this season. They both are certainly one of the most hotly contested rivalries worldwide due to the geographical and political importance, and they face each other in the Rome derby, also called the derby of the Capital, which would give one of the competitors a chance to claim the title of best team in the capital at least for one game or one season.
As they ended in 4th (Lazio) and fifth (Roma) position the 2019-20 season, they will compete in the Champions and Europa League respectively next 2021 edition.
This is an amazing scenery for the followers and supporters of the Italian soccer that from now on will be able to enjoy the entire season, watching the matches and betting on the results.
