The 5 matchday of the Liga MX Clausura 2021 continues this weekend, after a fourth round where Santos Laguna and Tijuana appear at the top of the table.
The big ones to perform well on matchday 4 were Cruz Azul, who beat Queretaro 4-1. Concerning the current champions, León also won 3-1 against San Luis.
On the other hand, Club América and Pumas UNAM drew their matches against Santos and Atlas, respectively.
Those who have yet to recover is Guadalajara. Chivas lost 2-1 against Juárez, leaving them second to last in the standings, just above Atlas.
In the same matchday, Mazatlán beat Pachuca 1-0 and Tijuana also won 3-1 over Toluca.
Matchday 4 ended with Monterrey visiting Puebla ending the game in a draw.
Tigres at the Club World Cup
Regarding Tigres, the team will not play on this matchday since it will be representing Mexico in the Club World Cup, after winning the Concachampions. Tigres UANL staff is already in Qatar, that is why their match against Necaxa was brought forward on Matchday 4. The game finally ended in a 1-1 draw, which places the team in the 6th position.
The ‘Universitarios’ are going to play their first Club World Cup, and their first match will be next 4th February against Korean team Ulsan.

This Clausura 2021 is receiving a lot of criticism due to the low standard of the matches that have been played so far in the four rounds.
Liga MX´s CEO, Mikel Arriola, explained in an interview with ESPN Digital that he holds the pandemic responsible for this. The casualties that the different teams have been suffering due to the Covid-19 infections have sometimes caused them to lose important players.
However, it is expected that the level of the tournament will soon recover and return to the competitive and exciting state to which we have become accustomed.
