The NBA announced on 8/8/2020 the finalists for the season’s awards, including MVP,  which will be disputed between Giannis Antetokounmpo,  LeBron James and James Harden.

Giannis Antetokounmpo / Milwaukee Bucks

The clear favourite to get the prize this season is the Greek forward of the Milwaukee Bucks, who already won last year, making this his second prize back-to-back. Antetokounmpo is the leader of the Bucks and the team is also one of the main favourites to win the ring. The Greek’s numbers this year have been even better than in the last season:

30.9 minutes, 29.6 points, 13.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.

LeBron James / Los Angeles Lakers

This time again, forward LeBron James, at his 35 is one of the candidates. He has been a four-time MVP, winning the award back-to-back on two occasions, with the first occurrence being in 2009 and 2010 and the other being in 2012 and 2013. This would be his fifth prize. The King’s numbers are still outstanding:

34.9 minutes, 25.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, 10.6 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game.

James Harden / Houston Rockets

The third candidate is guard James Harden who is the league’s leading scorer, with 34.4 points per game, four points ahead of the second, Bradley Beal of the Wizards. This is the second highest scoring season in the career of ‘The Beard’, who hopes to win back the prize he already won in the 2018 campaign. His numbers are:

36.7 minutes, 34.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game.

TNT will announce the award winners during its coverage of the 2020-2021 NBA season planned for December 1st , even Commissioner Adam Silver declared that there was a chance the season could start even later if it means getting more fans in arenas down the road.

We wish all the best luck to the candidates, as well as their teams Milwaukee Bucks,  Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets, who will be wishing their players to be the chosen ones.
