After Barcelona ‘s slip-up, drawing against Granada last Monday in La Liga, rumors about the continuity of Ronald Koeman as coach of the Blaugrana team have gone rocketing.
The Dutch coach’s situation is becoming increasingly complicated and his future with the Culés hangs in the balance. And despite the fact that Joan Laporta is keeping him on the bench, Koeman’s credibility is at rock bottom. Koeman is holding out but he knows he is risking his job in every game. The next match is this Thursday against Cadiz, and we will see how Barcelona will defend.
The directive is ready
Although Koeman’s departure would cost Barcelona a compensation of 12 million Euros, the club’s board is clear and is already considering who could be the Dutchman’s replacement.
However, there is still a chance Koeman could keep his job if he can turn the team’s results around and start winning games from now on. A very difficult task with the current team, and, without detracting from the current squad, perhaps the change needed could be in the hands of an outsider.

There are many names being considered as possible candidates to be the next coach of the Culé team. But there are two favorites on the club’s board.
Xavi Hernández. His name has been floated for some time as the next Barcelona coach. The former Barcelona player currently has a contract in Qatar, but anything is possible and the fans would welcome his selection for the Barcelona dugout. It is rumored that the Qatari board would not object if Barcelona were to call him.
Roberto Martinez. The Spanish coach of the Belgian national team, greatly admired by Barcelona has previously been on the radar of the club’s board. His contract currently runs until 2022 but could be released, subject to payment to the Belgian federation.
But there are also other contenders for Barça’s coach job. One of them is Antonio Conte, former Inter Milan coach, who is currently free, so his arrival could happen immediately. There is also mention of Phillip Cocu, ex-Barcelona player, former PSV Eindhoven coach, and currently without a team. Another is Andrea Pirlo, formerly of Juventus and also available to anyone who wants to sign him.
Tomorrow, Thursday, Barcelona visit Cadiz in the last game of La Liga matchday 6, and the result will decide the future of Ronald Koeman.
