Last week in Cologne, Sevilla FC won the sixth UEFA Europa League title in its history. As with any European title at the sporting level, the value is incalculable, and it comes with the prestige of having left on the path competitors such as Manchester United, Inter Milan and Roma.
Sevilla’s statistics hit the target: six out of six. That is to say, every time that Sevilla qualifies for the Europa League, they conquer it. This cup is irresistible for Seville club whose previous conquests were Eindhoven 2006, Glasgow 2007, Turin 2014, Warsaw 2015, Basel 2016 and the last one in Cologne 2020.
This cup has been achieved in exceptional circumstances, in the midst of a global pandemic and with the doors of the stadiums closed to the public. This makes it a special experience for the Seville team, which has shown that there is nothing that can stop them on their way to conquering the European Championship.
It is a record that only Sevilla has been able to achieve, as there is nobody with more titles of this second continental competition.
More Competitions ahead
Thanks to its great performance in La Liga after finishing in the fourth position, Sevilla FC has also assured to be in the next edition of the Champions League.
The Seville team will also contest the UEFA Super Cup against UEFA Champions League winners Bayern Munich in Budapest on September 24th.
There is one last and unexpected sports award that comes thanks to the Europa League 2020 and it is the new format of the Club World Cup announced by FIFA, which will allow Sevilla to participate for the first time in its history in the Club World Cup in 2021, 2022 or 2023.
